RISE x TheSpaceBuilder: Exploring the Space Market

3 September 2025

On September 3, 2025, TheSpaceBuilder led a workshop as part of the RISE program by CNRS Innovation, focused on the topic “Exploring the Space Market – Opportunities for DeepTech Projects.”

This session was designed for researchers and project leaders looking to better understand the dynamics of the space sector and explore new market opportunities for their technologies. The objective was to make the space market more accessible and to highlight its growing potential at the intersection of environmental, technological, economic, and sovereignty challenges.

During the workshop, several key dimensions were addressed. Discussions covered the main trends shaping the space economy, the impact of emerging technologies, and the growing range of applications enabled by space data and infrastructure.

Participants were also introduced to how innovations can evolve into products or services that address real market needs.

The space sector is no longer limited to a small number of specialized players. It is increasingly becoming a foundational layer for multiple industries, creating new opportunities for DeepTech projects across a wide range of applications.

A particular focus was placed on the challenges of translating research into market-ready solutions in the space sector. Long development cycles, dependence on infrastructure, the central role of institutional actors, the importance of demonstrators, and the alignment between technological maturity and market readiness are all critical factors in building a viable entrepreneurial trajectory.

In this context, TheSpaceBuilder presented its approach, which consists of co-founding space startups with researchers by creating an operational bridge between research, market, entrepreneurship, and funding.

We thank CNRS Innovation for their trust, as well as all participants for the quality of the discussions.

The RISE program by CNRS Innovation

The RISE program by CNRS Innovation is a startup creation support program dedicated to projects based on technologies developed within CNRS laboratories. It supports projects from early structuring stages through to company creation and initial funding.

Open to projects involving CNRS, the program provides one year of support combining expertise, mentoring, structuring, and networking, with the goal of transforming research outcomes into solid entrepreneurial ventures.
